FAQ’s

What is Physiotherapy?

Physiotherapy is a health care discipline which is primarily concerned with the assessment and diagnosis of human function, movement and mechanics.  Physiotherapists are highly skilled in musculoskeletal and neurological systems and use this knowledge to develop treatment plans.  Physiotherapists use a combination of manual (hands-on) therapy, exercise prescription and electrotherapeutic modalities to restore movement and function.

What conditions can physiotherapy help with?

Physiotherapy can assist with many conditions including:

  • Low back pain
  • Neck pain
  • Sporting Injuries
  • Work related injury
  • Ligament strains
  • Muscle tears
  • Post-op rehabilitation
  • Overuse injuries
  • Headaches
  • Arthritis
Do I need a referral from my Doctor before starting physiotherapy?

No.  Physiotherapists are Primary Care Practitioners and as such are expertly trained in the assessment and diagnosis of musculoskeletal injuries, disorders and dysfunction.  You do not need a referral to see a physiotherapist.

Where is Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy located?

Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy has 2 practices located in the Sutherland Shire in Southern Sydney.

CARINGBAH PRACTICE: is located at 426 Kingsway, CARINGBAH next to The Sutherland Hospital and on the corner of Hinkler Avenue and Kingsway.

KAREELA PRACTICE: is located at 12 Freya St, KAREELA opposite the Kareela Shopping centre.

Both practices have a bus stop at the front of the property and the Caringbah practice is a 10 minute walk from Caringbah train station.

Both practices have onsite parking and are wheelchair accessible.

Will my private health insurance cover the cost of my treatment?

Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy is an accredited and registered provider of physiotherapy.  Most policies with ancillary cover will rebate a proportion of the cost of treatment.  The health insurance rebate varies from insurer to insurer and also depends on the level of cover.  You should check with your health insurance provider to determine your entitlements.

Do you have HICAPS/Eftpos?

Yes.  We have HICAPS for your convenience so that you can claim an immediate rebate from your health fund and only pay the gap amount.  Eftpos and credit card facilities are also available (ex AMEX and Diners Club).

How long will treatment take?

You should allow 45-60 minutes for the Initial consultation and between 30-60 minutes for follow-up consultations depending upon the complexity of the condition.

What are your opening hours?

Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy is open extended hours weekdays and on Saturdays to cater for our busy lifestyles and other family, sporting and work commitments.  Depending on the practice and day we are open from 7.20am until 7.30pm Monday to Friday and from 8.00am until 1.00pm on Saturday.

Do I have to wait long to get an appointment?

We understand that when you are in pain, have an important event coming up or just need to get back to work you cannot wait to get better.  At Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy we offer an Acute/Urgent care service and will endeavor to see such injuries on the same day and always within 24 hours.

What sort of treatment should I expect?

Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy specializes in hands-on manual therapy with a strong focus on exercise rehabilitation.  Treatment often includes manual orthopaedic therapy, soft tissue massage, stretching and strengthening exercises, posture re-education, Pilates based therapy and proven electrotherapeutic modalities.  Besides the clinical component of your treatment you will usually be given a home program and self-management strategies to facilitate recovery.

What should I wear?

You should wear clothing which allows the physiotherapist access to the area for which you are seeking attention.  Shorts and a T-shirt/singlet are often the most practical clothing to wear or bring with you.  Gowns are available when required.

What should I bring to my first consultation?

If you have a letter of referral bring that with you.  If you have any x-rays, scans or other investigations which are relevant you should bring these also.

Do you see Workers Compensation patients?

Yes.  All the physiotherapists at Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy are Workcover accredited.  If you have sustained a work related injury and are referred for physiotherapy by your nominated treating doctor we can help with a safe, timely and sustained return to your pre-injury duties and activities.  You should bring along the letter of referral from your doctor as well as your claim and employment details to you first consultation.

Do you see DVA patients?

Yes. All the physiotherapists at Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy are registered with the Department of Veterans Affairs. You should bring along your DVA card to you first consultation.
