NECK AND BACK PAIN TREATMENT

Neck and Back Pain Treatment

Neck and back related pain is a common and frustrating complaint. It can be caused by a number of factors, most commonly as a result of a motor vehicle accident and from poor postures during daily activity, usually associated with extended periods of computer use or repetitive bending and lifting.

At Jubilee Sports Physiotherapy our physiotherapists are all trained to accurately diagnose and manage neck and spinal pains and injuries, including:

Whiplash

During a car accident your head is forcefully jerked back and forth causing an injury known as whiplash. This can damage the ligaments in the neck and cause muscle spasm, pain and stiffness. Physiotherapy post whiplash is beneficial to the reduce pain and stiffness, and to restore any lost range of motion and strength to the neck as quickly as possible.

Neck Pain Related to Poor Posture

Hours in front of the computer can lead to poor postures such as a slumped back/ poked neck position and rounded shoulders. This puts stress on the lower neck and upper back causing an aching pain across the shoulders and into the back of the head which can be quite draining. Hands-on treatment from one of our physiotherapists combined with the correct exercise prescription and postural education can relieve your painful neck.

Acute Wry Neck

Acute wry neck is another common problem associated with the cervical spine. It usually occurs following a sharp, usually rotatory movement, but often occurs following a night of sleep with your head in an awkward position. The result is acutely inflamed and irritable neck joints and protective muscle spasm restricting your head movements. Early hands-on treatment can relieve pain symptoms greatly and help you start moving normally again.

Slipped Lumbar Disc

A slipped disc, also called a prolapsed or herniated disc, occurs when one of the discs of the spine is ruptured (splits) and the gel inside bulges or leaks out. This causes severe back pain and can also refer pain to other areas of the body due to pressure on local nerves. A number of factors can put increased pressure and strain on your disc, including bending awkwardly, heavy or awkward lifting and prolonged sitting (particularly driving). Our physiotherapists will be able to prescribe an individually tailored exercise plan for you. This will keep you active, minimise pain and help prevent any further damage being caused to your back.

The the treatment I received for injury was first class. Caring, knowledgeable and highly professional. The electronic home exercising provided to me showed me the required exercises so I was not let to a piece of papers directing me. Loved the app. This physio is the best I have used. Highly recommended.
